VLN 2014: Behind the leadership duo there is a huge seething

The VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring bends with the ninth round, the ROWE DMV 250 miles race at the 11. October, on the home stretch. By canceling the eighth run, only one prank result will be used in the 2014 season. After seven rated races, Rolf Derscheid (Much) and Michael Flehmer (Overath) confidently lead the ranking of the most popular mass sport series in Europe. With their BMW 325i, the duo achieved six class wins under the application of the MSC Wahlscheid and only had to give up second once. The lead over the pursuers in the championship seems comfortable. But it's bubbling behind the top duo. Taking into account a strike result, no fewer than five drivers and teams are lurking, who in turn have ambitions for the title.

Derscheid / Flehmer are currently canceling 8,33 points for their second place in the seventh run. Your points add up to 56,98 counters. The lead over the second-placed Hannu Luostarinen (Adenau) and Tim Schrick (Munich), on the road in the Opel Astra OPC Cuo, is 2,39 points. What at first glance looks like good upholstery can be put into perspective quickly, considering that at the end of the year only a deletion result is used. A mistake in the remaining two races can quickly decide whether to win or lose. In addition to Luostarinen / Schrick, Jörg Viebahn (Engelskirchen) is still in the race, as are Christopher Brück (Cologne), Marc Gindorf (Monaco) and Frank Kräling (Winterberg), the best-placed driver in the Porsche Cup class Adam Osieka (Meuspath) and Max Partl (Pyrbaum) and Jörg Weidinger (Happurg). With 53,61 points, the BMW duo is less than one point behind the runners-up.

Who will be ahead in the end is still in the stars. The ninth season run will further focus on potential candidates. And under normal circumstances, the new champions will only be at the season finale, the 39. DMV Münsterland Cup, on 25. October.

In addition to the best-placed drivers, 2014 drivers also scored points in the season. All in all, 586 racing drivers from 1.145 nations - including 37 women - raced in the VLN endurance championship Nürburgring in 29 different racing vehicles.

The ROWE DMV 250 miles race leads the usual four-hour distance on the 24,358 kilometer-long combination of the Nürburgring sprint course and the Nordschleife. The starting signal is given punctually at 12 o'clock, beforehand the starting positions will be extended from 8: 30 to 10 o'clock
