Mercedes-Benz eVito

Special requirements are placed on the safe and comfortable transport of wheelchair users. At Mercedes, these are now also compatible with emission-free mobility.

With immediate effect, Mercedes is also offering the eVito battery-electric van in a version designed for transporting wheelchair users. The custom-made product based on the Vito long version, realized with the company AMF-Bruns, enables barrier-free access to the interior of the vehicle thanks to a special rear cutout on the vehicle floor and a ramp. In the passenger compartment, a lowered floor pan provides a generous amount of space with a DIN-compliant interior height (1,45 meters) in the rear wheelchair area. With the help of a person and wheelchair restraint system, wheelchairs can be attached and secured to the vehicle floor. In the front area, the converted version offers space for five people plus the driver with the two-person front passenger seat installed. Optional swivel and folding seats in the second row enable flexible use of the vehicle for up to seven people, provided that a wheelchair is not being carried.

The wheelchair-accessible conversion offers the same drive as a standard eVito. A 150 kW / 204 PS electric motor is combined with a 100 kWh battery. The maximum speed is 140 km / h, an increase to 160 km / h is possible on customer request; the range is given as 421 kilometers. With fast charging technology, which is subject to a surcharge, the battery can process up to 110 kW charging power. Charging the battery from 10 to 80 percent would therefore be possible in around 45 minutes. The range of the electric van, optimized for wheelchair transport, is aimed at taxi companies and driving services.
