Porsche Cayenne E Hybrid

Porsche has given the plug-in hybrid versions of the Cayenne battery cells with more energy density. They conjure up an additional letter in the license plate.

In addition to BEVs, electrically powered plug-in hybrids also enjoy the privilege of wearing an E on the right end of the license plate. The Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid has so far been denied this honor due to its insufficient electric range. Thanks to new battery cells, the capacity of the traction battery has now increased from 14,1 to 17,9 kWh, which in turn increases the NEDC range of the simple version with 340 kW / 462 PS system output to 56 and that of the Turbo S (500 kW / 680 PS) increased to 53 kilometers. This means that all PHEV variants of the Cayenne meet the requirement for an E-mark, which is accompanied by reduced company car taxation. At the same time, the standard consumption is falling - for the simple E-Hybrid from 3,1 to 2,4 and for the Turbo S from 3,7 to 3,2 liters.

Expensive fun

In addition, Porsche has trimmed the driving modes for more efficiency and performance and finally changed the charging strategy in e-charge mode. Previously, the battery was charged up to 100 percent while driving with the help of the internal combustion engine, now the limit has dropped to 80 percent. This should avoid a comparatively inefficient, because slow, charging above 80 percent. The classic Cayenne E-Hybrid will cost 90.447 euros in future, the coupé counterpart 95.087 euros. Around 170.000 and 174.000 euros are the Turbo S.
