The automobile manufacturer Alpina has given its B3 / B4 series a performance injection. In the future, the newly strengthened models will operate under the expanded model designation B3 S and B4 S. Prices start at 73.000 euros for the B3 S sedan.
Decisive for the performance increase are a new turbocharger and better cooling for the three-liter inline six-cylinder, which enables an increase in output from 310 kW / 410 hp to 324 kW / 440 hp and the torque from 600 to 660 Newton meters. For comparison: M3 and M4 are 317 kW / 431 PS and 550 Newton meters strong. The driving performance of the Alpina versions has improved slightly as a result. The sprint time is usually shortened by a tenth of a second, at top speed the vehicles increase by 3 km / h each. The fastest of the B3 / B4 family is the B4 S Coupé with all-wheel drive, which sprints from 0 to 100 km / h in 3,9 seconds and which speeds up to 306 km / h. It is also about a few tenths of a liter in consumption, which Alpina specifies with 8,3 liters. B3 is offered as a sedan and station wagon and B4 as a coupé and convertible. (Mario Hommen / SP-X)
