Audi Q7 - more dynamism in the thick ship

The Audi Q7 was previously the unsporting brother of the Porsche Cayenne. Now he catches up in terms of dynamics - technically and above all visually.

Not only in comparison to its sister model Porsche Cayenne, the Audi Q7 looked a bit cumbersome lately. A revision now ensures a more dynamic appearance, and the SQ7 sports version is also coming back. The lifted luxury SUV will be available from dealers from September.

The most important change is just one detail: the redesigned sill section. It is now pulled more inward and upward, so that visually increases the ground clearance and the massive appearance of the Allraders is somewhat mitigated. There are also the usual cosmetics on air intakes, tailgate and grille. The example now carries vertical instead of horizontal struts and will be flanked by future standard LED headlights.

In terms of technology, the Audi catches up with the platform brother Cayenne and offers, among other things, the active roll stabilization that is already available there. Together with all-wheel steering and air suspension, it should ensure dynamic and manageable driving behavior. Unlike the Stuttgart relative, the Q7 still uses diesel technology - also in the SQ7 sports model. The top version was no longer available recently, but is now returning in a revised form that has been adapted to the future emissions standard. As usual, the 4,0-liter V8 engine combined with an electric compressor delivers 320 kW / 435 hp and directs a torque of 900 Nm towards the four wheels.

As a more civil alternative, there are two 3,0-liter V6 diesel with 170 kW / 231 PS and 210 kW / 286 PS, which are already known from the predecessor. The only gasoline engine is a 250 kW / 340 PS strong 3,0-liter V6, which is designed as the two diesel as 48-volt hybrid. 2020 is to complement the offer with a plug-in hybrid. All-wheel drive is a matter of course in all variants, an eight-speed automatic is also always on board.
