Organic bicycle cleaner put to the test

Clean well and at the same time protect the material - this is not exactly an easy balancing act for bicycle cleaners. But one can do it well.

Anyone who values the most environmentally friendly use of the Bicycle can now use a variety of organic cleaners. The expert organization KÜS has taken a closer look at 9 bicycle cleaning agents in spray bottles of the organic class and examined, among other things, their cleaning performance as well as environmental and material compatibility. A clear winner was chosen, but more than half of the products were not very convincing.

Which bike cleaner was convincing?

The F100 from Dr. Wack emerged as the clear test winner. Although it wasn't quite enough for a top grade in terms of cleaning performance, in return the cleaning agent protects iron, aluminum, paint and lights in the best possible way. The F100 thus masters the difficult balancing act of both requirements best. At around 24 euros per liter, however, it is also the most expensive product in the test environment.

With five cleaners it was only enough for a “sufficient” or a “poor”

As the price-performance winner, the KÜS selected the Antidot Bike Cleaner (17,27 euros / l) in second place, which, however, did significantly worse than the test winner in terms of material compatibility and cleaning performance. The cleaners “Bio-Chem” and “Wash'n Roll” were also rated with the same number of points and also each with “satisfactory”. The spray cleaners from Brunox and Motorex were only rated as “sufficient”, but they received top marks for cleaning performance. In other test categories such as material compatibility, packaging or raw materials, however, the Saubermacher failed. The bicycle cleaners from Atlantic, Neatflow and Pedros were rated “poor” three times.
