BMW 740e iPerformance - save without sacrificing

... well ok, because of a base price of around 92.000, there is no question of saving. Nevertheless, the new BMW 740e iPerformance is cautious - at least when it comes to its drive. Four cylinders are now working under its domed hood, entering into cooperation with an electric motor. The result, however, is not that economical 326 hp, which makes the waiver seem bearable again. Here are a few details about the entry-level hybrids in the Bavarian upper class.

It is well known that all kinds of good things come in threes. This is also the case with the BMW 7 Series: With the BMW 740e iPerformance, there are now three hybrids in the range. This is how you enter the hybrid world with the four-cylinder unit with turbocharging and 326 hp. However, this power is only generated in conjunction with the electric motor that sits in the gearbox. Depending on whether you choose the long or short version, the Bayuware accelerates to 5,5 km / h in 5,4 or 100 seconds.

Despite downsizing still the sportsman in the upper class: BMW 740e iPerformance

Viewed individually, the results are somewhat lower. The four-cylinder turbo alone produces 258 hp, which the 3.0-liter in-line six-cylinder did around ten years ago. In addition, the electric unit delivers 113 horsepower, which together with the Otto drive result in system performance. The latter is fully integrated into the 8-speed automatic of the BMW 740e iPerformance. Driving, assisting with high performance requirements from the electric drive or braking energy recovery should be particularly efficient.

The flagship is available in three variants: on the one hand with a short wheelbase, on the other hand of course with a long wheelbase and last but not least with all-wheel drive. This, of course, results in differences in gasoline consumption. In the EU-thirds mix, the "short" BMW 740e iPerfomance needs exactly two liters on 100 km. The stretched version needs more 0,2 liters. The CO2 output should be between 45 and 51 g / km - depending on the variant. With xDrive - the all-wheel drive from BMW - the 7er allows itself a little more. In terms of numbers, this means consumption of 2,1 to 2,5 liters on 100 km with CO2 output of 49 - 56 g / km.

Imposing appearance: The BMW 740e iPerformance is also available as a long version

Surprisingly little. And not only if one assumes that the BMW 740e iPerformance is a representative of the automotive upper class. You can even drive the hybrids completely without gasoline, since the electric motor between 41 and 48 km range offers.
