Car Bestsellers

One month break, now back again: The VW Golf was the best-selling car in Europe in May. When it came to e-mobiles, however, Wolfsburg had to admit defeat.

The VW Golf is back at the top of Europe. After the Wolfsburg long-term bestseller let pass the Peugeot 208 and 2008 models in April, it regained first place in May with 23.106 units sold, according to data from the consulting company Jato. The previous month's winners were only in 6th and 7th place, second and third place went to Renault Clio (19.539 units) and Fiat 500 (18.342 units).

In the electric car segment, the Tesla Model 3 took the leading position with 8.762 new registrations. The VW ID3 came to 6.031 units, the Renault Zoe to 5.738. The plug-in hybrid charts were topped by the Ford Kuga with 4.794 units, ahead of the Peugeot 3008 with 3.954 and the Volvo XC40 with 3.833 units.
