Overall, CO2 emissions in Germany fell slightly in 2017. But not in the transport sector.
CO2 emissions in traffic rose in Germany in 2017. According to the final figures released by the Federal Environment Agency (UBA), 168 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent were emitted, 1,19 percent more than in 2016. The majority of the emissions came from road traffic, where CO2 emissions fell by 1,33 percent to 162 million Tons increased. In total, around 2017 million tons were released into the air in Germany in 906,6, 0,5 percent less than in the previous year. The main emitter was the energy industry with 313 million tons, but with a decrease of 19,5 million tons it also achieved the greatest reduction.
