Cayenne S Diesel: A benchmark for efficiency

With the Cayenne S Diesel, Dr. Ing.hc F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, the most powerful diesel model on the market. The 4,2-liter eight-cylinder engine with twin-turbo charging develops 382 hp (281 kW) and offers a maximum torque of 850 Newton meters. The new Cayenne S Diesel thus achieves top values - in both driving dynamics and efficiency: the new top diesel completes the sprint from standstill in 5,7 seconds and reaches its top speed of 252 km / h. In doing so, it shows an exemplary energy yield: Consumption according to NEDC is only 8,3 liters per 100 kilometers (CO2: 218 g / km). Among other things, the automatic start-stop function, which the new model offers as the world's only SUV with a diesel V8, ensures this outstanding value.

The Cayenne S Diesel offers a driving experience that is typical of Porsche and yet new. It is emotional like a sports car, both in terms of its driving dynamics and its sound. The smoothness and sound of the eight-cylinder engine reach a level that corresponds to the properties of the previous Porsche V8 engines. The Cayenne S Diesel gets its very special character from the active all-wheel drive PTM. As a result, its driving behavior corresponds to that of a rear-wheel drive vehicle - with all the advantages for handling and precision. With a sporty, dynamic driving style, the additional use of the front-wheel drive, which is precisely adapted to the driving situation, unfolds its effect and increases stability and traction. With the optional Porsche Torque Vectoring Pluss (PTV Plus), these outstanding driving dynamics can be implemented in an even sportier way.

At the same time, the Cayenne S Diesel with its superbly powerful engine is the ideal choice when it comes to pulling and maneuvering boat or horse trailers. Even when the maximum tensile load of 3,5 tonnes is fully utilized, the Cayenne S Diesel has enough power reserves. It also plays a major role as a long-distance champion: Equipped with the optionally available 100-liter tank, the Cayenne S Diesel enables a range of around 1.200 kilometers in NEDC consumption without a refueling break.

The new top-of-the-range diesel model is also an outwardly uncompromising Cayenne S and bears the typical features of the eight-cylinder variants. The brake system is dimensioned according to the performance, recognizable by the silver brake calipers. The black slats on the bow emphasize the open air inlets. As with the Cayenne Diesel, “diesel” lettering on the front of both fenders indicates the working method of the V8 engine. The type designation on the rear identifies it as the Cayenne S.

The Cayenne S Diesel comes on the market in January 2013 and costs 77.684 euros in Germany including 19 percent VAT and country-specific equipment.
