The SUV with 5.37 liter real consumption!

For my-auto-blog I have been driving a Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In Hybrid in an endurance test for over a year and thanks to the weekly reporting I have made many new contacts with PHEV drivers. And I am grateful when I hear the experiences of the other Outlander PHEV drivers! This week I'll take a look at Manfred Frenger's experience.

17 months - 58.299 km driven - 5.37 liters real consumption!

How to save on the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV in everyday life!

Manfred Frenger may be understood as PHEV owner with orderly bookkeeping. Since 19.05.2014 Hr. Frenger the Outlander PHEV as a company car. And that is exactly what makes his experience so valuable. For my-auto-blog it's running Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV mainly as a family car in use, The large space, the variability and the all-wheel drive of the PHEV meet with us on frequent short distances and a typical family life. The Daughter in kindergarten (purely electric), with the dog to the veterinarian (purely electric), for shopping (of course, purely electric) and and and ... and By the way, on vacation. I can certify that the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is 100% family-friendly.

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV as a company car

Readers Manfred Frenger uses the Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in hybrid primarily as a company car. He commutes to work and all business trips are recharged in the PHEV. I met with Mr. Frenger at eCarTec in Munich and talked about his experiences. He describes himself as "E-Mobility infected".

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is the best EV for my profiles as I have to drive short and long distances. The space available convinced, the four-wheel drive is important in winter, the trailer hitch makes the PHEV- complete.

For me a “cool” car. (Reader Manfred Frenger)

When I asked what makes driving a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV so attractive for him, Mr. Frenger replied:

Electric driving has become a passion. Of course, it was also important to us (Walter Werke) to "authentically" demonstrate the advantages of electric mobility. But the efficiency of the Outlander PHEV, the opportunity to manage your own mobility entirely on the basis of renewable energies - that is a great advantage. That appealed to me from the start!

And the fact that the car can be charged quickly with DC and the whole vehicle offers so much space, that's just a huge advantage!

Mr. Frenger received the Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In Hybrid in May 2014 in exchange for a Ford Galaxy Van. Its consumption beforehand? Around 8.5 liters of diesel per 100 km. After Mr. Frenger is so convinced of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, was it important for me to find out whether he also found criticism of the vehicle? Or what reasons can speak against the PHEV. And presumably he does have a lot of conversations on the subject of PHEV - what experience has he gained?

After almost 60.000 kilometers, there wasn't a single problem. And of course the purchase price of at least 40.000 euros is quite a hurdle for many people. You can lease or finance the vehicle - but still 40.000 to 50.000 euros is a lot of money. On the other hand, there is no alternative. There is no other plug-in hybrid SUV that has the capabilities of the Mitsubishi. Not in this price range.

A grant like in the Netherlands, Norway or England would help.

If anything should be improved, it would be the connectivity and navigation system of the multimedia system. A revision of the rear view camera would probably also make sense!

Detailed statistics after 58.299 kilometers

If you draw a line below the total values of Mr. Frenger and his notes, the distance traveled after 58.299 km results in a real consumption cut of 5.37 liters on 100 kilometers and thus Hr. Frenger with his Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV in everyday life under the value according to NEDC standard! And that's really an achievement.
