The car preferences of the Americans

The Americans love German luxury sedans. In other categories, however, German carmakers usually have to leave the top position to Japanese and American manufacturers. These are the results of a representative online survey conducted by the American platform SurveyMonkey, www.surveymonkey.de, in the United States on the occasion of the 65. International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt performed. However, it is of course not representative of the rest of the world.

For Germany this survey is likely (500 people were interviewed) represent completely different values - not only because the US automakers hardly play a role in Germany - but also because the manufacturers from France in the USA, unlike in Germany and the EU, do not play a role at all.

But - just in time for the IAA - I also want to let the US boys have their say 😉

The German manufacturers were able to drive six times in the Top 3 in eight categories, including one in the pole position: The Americans are into German luxury sedans! For the most popular car brand, the Americans tend to rely on models from the Far East or from their own country: Toyota is in first place with 13 percent, followed by Honda (nine percent), Chevrolet (eight percent) and Ford (seven percent). BMW is the only German representative to make it into the top 5 of the most popular cars with six percent.

One of the top topics at this year's IAA in Frankfurt are the various hybrid models from the car manufacturers. Hybrid cars are also popular in the USA - especially from Japan: 48 percent of Americans put on Hybrid from the "Land of the Rising Sun", 35 percent trust their own brands and around seven percent would rely on the German seal of quality "Made in Germany" when it comes to hybrid.

With Italian elegance over German motorways: SurveyMonkey also asked the Americans which brand they would prefer to race across German motorways with no speed limit. Italy clearly wins ahead of Swabia: A total of 20 percent of those surveyed would choose a Lamborghini to drive away from German law enforcement officers, twelve percent would like to drive a Ferrari and ten percent would like to accelerate in a Porsche.
