Do not drive winter tires in summer

If you want to be on the road with winter tires in the warm season, you have to make some compromises. These concern, among other things, security.

Cool temperatures so far, no trace of the warm spring-like weather: many drivers have been reluctant to switch the tires of their vehicles from winter to summer tires. With increasingly milder temperatures, however, it is now time to change. Tire manufacturer Michelin points this out.

The reason for this is the different rubber compounds that the refrigeration and heating specialists have at their disposal. The softer rubber compound of winter tires compared to the summer versions ensures flexibility and good grip on ice and snow in winter, but increases abrasion in warm or even hot weather and impairs traction. The fuel consumption of the car can also increase. A poor driving behavior and an extension of the braking distance are also possible.
