The new lockdown rules also have an impact on drivers. In principle, driving is still allowed in Germany. Corona hotspots can, however, be subject to the 15-kilometer rule, which restricts the radius of action of the residents of the affected regions, at least for tourist activities. There you can only move within your place of residence and you can move up to a maximum of 15 kilometers from the local border. However, trips to work or to the doctor's office are valid reasons for driving more than 15 kilometers. Curfews are also binding for drivers. The ADAC points this out.
As is generally the case with the general public, only people from their own household are allowed to meet a maximum of one person from another household in a vehicle. It is recommended that you avoid trips with people from another household if possible. From what age the restriction applies to children is handled differently in the federal states.
It is not mandatory to keep the official minimum distance to someone from another household in the vehicle. However, it is advisable to keep as great a distance as possible. In addition, it is advisable to wear masks in the vehicle when driving with someone from another household. This is allowed, but the driver's face must remain recognizable. Before the common practice of hanging masks on the interior mirror, the traffic club advises against, as these obstruct the view.
If you want to fill up, you have to put on a medical mask or an FFP2 mask before getting out at the pump. Mask requirements and distance rules apply at the petrol station. In contrast to previous lockdowns, car washes, vehicle workshops and the test stations for the general inspection will remain open. However, if you want to go to the HU, you should make a fixed appointment with the test center.
