E-car sales

Even if the competition gets stronger: E-car-Pioneer Tesla holds first place among the electric car brands. The German competition is currently far behind.  

Tesla remains the largest electric car manufacturer in the world. In the first four months of the year, the Californians sold 216.079 vehicles worldwide, as the consulting agency Inovev has calculated. GM-Wuling followed in second place with 133.720 units, and took third place VW with 89.655 vehicles. In addition to pure e-mobiles, plug-in hybrids are also included in the statistics. The top ten are completed by BMW (83.885 units), BYD (78.690 units), Mercedes (72.139 units), Volvo (63.375 units), SAIC MG-Roewe (57.713 units), Audi (47.715 units) and Peugeot (39.329 units) .  

A total of around 1,5 million battery electric cars and plug-in hybrids were sold worldwide between January and the end of April. The most popular model was the Tesla Model 3 with 141.696 units ahead of the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV with 125.925 sales and the Tesla Model Y with 72.296 units. These three models account for almost 23 percent of the global market for electrified cars.
