Euro NCAP

Two new models and variants of existing models: Euro-NCAP has again distributed stars.

The new Renault Kangoo and the new Opel Mokka each passed the Euro-NCAP crash test with four stars. In addition, the Mercedes GLA and the EQA each received a five-star rating based on the crash results of the technically related B-Class from 2019. The Cupra Leon also benefits from the good performance of its gene donor, the Seat Leon, and can boast five stars. The plug-in version of the VW Tiguan (eHybrid) is also rated with five stars.

The Renault Kangoo performed well in the crash test, but just missed the top rating due to only a moderate performance in the side impact protection. The testers praise the safety features of the high-roof station wagon. In the case of the Opel Mokka, which was tested by Stellantis after the switch from the GM platform to the Common Modular Platform (CMP), the testers complain about the lack of an assistant to protect cyclists.

Euro NCAP

The Kangoo achieved 87 percent of occupant protection for children and 78 percent for adults. The mocha came to 75 and 73 percent in these disciplines. The proper equipment with safety-relevant assistance systems led to a result of 72 percent for the French high-roof station wagon, the Mocha only achieved 64 percent here. When it comes to protecting pedestrians and cyclists, the kangoo is also ahead of the mocha with 67 percent (58 percent).

The cars are always tested in variants that are particularly widespread across Europe. The equipment on the German market is often more extensive.
