Driving report: Nissan Qashqai 1.6 DIG-T - a powerful petrol engine for every situation

With the Qashqai, Nissan 2006 introduced a compact SUV after the X-Trail, which quickly became the top seller of the car manufacturer from Nippon. Up to the beginning of 2015, around 2,5 million vehicles rolled off the assembly line in Sunderland, England. For the second generation of the Qashqai, which was presented to London in November 2013, Nissan is now offering its newly developed 1.6 turbo gasoline engine for more driving pleasure and dynamism to offer. The striking SUV design of the Qashqai exudes the conceptual advantages of an all-rounder. Nevertheless, in addition to the design, the Qashqai also offers comfort and useful technologies. The vehicle's price list starts at 19.990 Euro.

With the Qashqai, Nissan offers a compact SUV that not only offers great benefits for the family or customers with extraordinary hobbies. Dynamics and driving pleasure were among other things the specifications of the Japanese engineers. To expand this even further, Nissan wants to make its bestseller even faster and more efficient. This should succeed with the 1.6 DIG-T turbo gasoline engine.

The 1.6 liter engine specially tailored to the Qashqai brings 120 kW (163 PS) onto the road and demonstrates this in every situation. Whether on the highway, the country road or in city traffic, the Qashqai offers comfortable driving with great driving pleasure. The maximum torque of 240 Newtonmeter at 2.000 and 4.000 U / min. makes the car very powerful. With these values, we can see very well that driving pleasure and elasticity are not a question of cubic capacity. The Qashqai sprints from 8,9 to 0 km / h in 100 seconds. Even at a top speed of 200 km / h, which we can reach on the highways, it hardly allows any noise in the passenger compartment. But efficiency is also not neglected in sporty driving. In combination with its 17 inch wheels, it still achieves a very good value of combined 5,8 liters per 100 kilometer. The associated 134 grams CO2Emissions per kilometer speak for themselves. The unit, which of course meets the 6 emissions standard, is equipped as standard with a six-speed manual transmission and an automatic start-stop system.

The front-wheel drive compact SUV makes in its dimensions of a total length of 4.377 mm, a total width of 1.806 mm and a total height of 1.590 mm generally a very good figure. The corresponding interior dimensions allow 5 people to sit comfortably and also guarantee a trunk volume of 430 liters. It even looks like the best in its class. If you want to visit the furniture or hardware store, the trunk can be easily expanded to 1.585 liters. Here then has the entire purchase space.

Once seated, the whole cockpit seems to turn towards the driver. All of the instruments and the navigation device located in the middle of the dashboard offer not too much, but also not too little information. The well-structured cockpit with its instrument panel as an eye-catcher and control center also ensures a generous feeling of space. The extremely well-tailored front seats not only look very ergonomic, they also provide support in any driving situation.

The Qashqai is not short of driving safety and comfort systems. In the equipment variant "Acenta", which we were allowed to test, Nissan offers an automatic driving light system, an autonomous emergency brake assistant, high beam and lane departure warning system as well as traffic sign recognition as standard. In addition, there is a cruise control and speed limiter, a hill start assist and a parking brake with automatic deactivation at startup, which activates when reversing the vehicle but in reverse. The reversing camera connected in combination with the navigation system allows very easy parking and exiting. Nissan sets the price of the "Acenta" equipment variant with the 1.6 turbo gasoline engine, the six-speed manual transmission and the optional navigation system (€ 900) at 27.240 Euro.
