Ferrari: elegance and beauty for the shelf

A visionary died before 30 years ago. On the day of the death of Enzo Ferrari, the automaker is now releasing a book that is a very special treat and should not just make fans swallow hard.

Listen to the podcast:

The author, Pino Allieri, has come up with something very special to honor the man who shaped the sports car world like no other: Enzo Ferrari. On 480 pages the life's work of Italians with many previously unpublished photos and personal entries from the diary is presented. Fittingly, it simply bears the simple name of "Ferrari" and more is not needed to arouse much desire. Limited to 1.947 copies "Collectors Edition" comes in an aluminum box, which is modeled on a Ferrari-V12 engine.

The special feature: It was specially signed by Piero Ferrari, the son of Enzo. The far more outrageous "Art Edition" with only 250 copies worldwide also comes in a V12 aluminum box but here hand-bent manifold pipes complement a freestanding "altar". This version was additionally signed by John Elken and Sergio Marchionne, who has recently died.

Actually an absolute must for every Ferrari fan, at least with the necessary small change: For the "Collector's Edition" 5.000 Euro are due, the "Art Edition" costs a proud 25.000 Euro. In a Ferrari world probably normal, in the normal mortals you have to swallow first. It must be kept in mind that Ferrari is now considered a cultural asset and combines two fascinating aspects: technology and art.

It goes without saying that this is also reflected in a book personally dedicated to the master. And art, as you know, has its price. The book is a large-format leather-bound book in 10 chapters of beauty and style, a world that everyone wants to belong to, but which remains closed to most. A look through the keyhole, which is so exclusive that you not only have to dig deep into your pocket, but almost through it.

The fact is: Ferrari is still a promise of mobile freedom through its enormous power and possible speed. And a fascinating decadence that barely has room in times of mass mobility. So what remains: elegance and beauty. A book for eternity.
