Ferrari GTC4Lusso: What a car. What a name?

Ferrari shows at the Geneva Motor Show the facelift of the 2 + 2-seated FF. And now calls him GTC4Lusso. Yes, without spaces.

3,4 seconds from a standing start to one hundred. Top 335 km / h. An almost balanced weight distribution of 47% on the front axle and 53% rear - measured without child seats. Ferrari's hatchback is in spite of fierce performance data something like the reason purchase for people who the money from sheer abundance constantly falls out of his pocket.

So far it existed as Ferrari FF. Maybe the "Ferrari Four" was too close to the Smart For Four, which is there again. Maybe it was the urge for a new name that seemed to haunt Ferrari at every facelift. At least the hatchback from Maranello is now called the bulky GTC4Lusso. That sounds damn Opel. The three-door Astra - sorry the Astra Coupé - has been rolling off the assembly line there since the model change as an Opel GTC. The Ferrari fan will rightly throw in that the name GTC has a long tradition at Ferrari, we can remind you of the 2 + 2-seater 365 GTC / 4 from the early 70s. Nevertheless, I stick to it: FF was easier to grip. Arrogant. Volume up.

In contrast to the U-turn in the model designation shows the bodywork dress of the big Ferrari gently lifted. The front grille is wider, but the designers still could not make it to a larger brand emblem. The bonnet is now smooth and has no more ventilation slots, but the gills in the fenders have grown significantly.

At the rear, the most significant changes come to the fore. The GTC4Lusso now has four round lights instead of two, plus the bumper is new and the diffuser built into it now looks mighty like racing cars. The tailgate has become smaller, but a higher sill should not really be a reason not to buy the Ferrari.

Even more the fear of fingerprints. Especially inside. For while everyone is amazed by two large displays in the new Mercedes E-Class, Ferrari unceremoniously screws three into its Shooting Brake. One with virtual instruments in front of the driver and one as a central infotainment center in the center console. New is the large display in front of the passenger, which will cost extra. All driving and engine data can be called up here. That one knows at least, why one of the stomach contents from below into the esophagus is pressed, if the 6,3 liter large V12 with now 690 PS (so far in the FF 660 PS) from the leash is left. Incidentally, the Ferrari is the first car in the world to combine four-wheel drive with four-wheel steering. The higher limit range should not be of much use to the sensitive passenger, on the contrary.

The exact price of the GTC4Lusso is not yet known, but one thing should be clear anyway: For most of us it is anyway too expensive.
