So far, the Fiat Tipo is only known from photos in our region, as the notchback sedans are almost threatened with extinction in Northern Europe. Therefore, the Italians are now adding the Fiat Tipo with five doors and hatchback, which is to expand the range with three equipment lines. The compact drives up with engines in the power range from 95 to 120 hp and is aimed at price-conscious customers.
The compact Italian wants to please with safer handling and a high level of comfort. The five-door vehicle comes up with a passable safety equipment, which includes six airbags, ESP, a traction control, a brake assistant, as well as the now mandatory features of tire pressure control and daytime running lights. For the chassis, the Italians rely on a modern construction with a torsion beam axle at the rear. This shares the compact class model, just like the platform, with the notchback sedan. The engines come with two petrol engines and two turbodiesels, which have the same power: it starts with 95 hp, while 120 hp marks the maximum. The displacement of the petrol engines is 1.4 liters, the diesel engines have 1.3 or 1.6 liters. In addition, the diesel with its standard automatic start-stop system should realize an average sparrow thirst of 3,7 liters.
The standard equipment is already quite decent in the basic version. So this version comes up with everything you need for a pleasant journey: from the air conditioning system, to electrical helpers, to the audio system with MP3 capability and connections for external devices, everything is on board. Also the 440 liter trunk, which can be loaded via a large tailgate. The price is then with the 1.4 liter basic petrol engine with 95 hp at 14.990 euros.
The “Easy” equipment line costs around 1.000 euros more. It offers the “Uconnect” entertainment system, which has a five-inch display. A leather steering wheel, a leather gear knob and LED daytime running lights are also standard. The Fiat Tipo “Lounge” costs another 1.000 euros more. It offers 16-inch alloy wheels, two-zone automatic air conditioning, a light and rain sensor, cruise control, fog lights with cornering lights and the "Uconnect LIVE" with a seven inch touchscreen.
Amenities such as a navigation system, leather seats, adaptive cruise control or a city emergency brake are optionally available. However, modern assistance systems are completely absent. Just like LED or xenon light. Can the five-door Fiat Tipo make up for lost floor?
