Ford Ranger: Four instead of five cylinders for top diesel

The Ford Ranger gets cleaner engines. The strongest diesel is replaced right away.

Ford refreshes the pick-up ranger. Among other things, there is already a new top engine in anticipation of the applicable from September emission standard. The deliveries start in the middle of 2019 at prices starting at 33.112 Euro (gross).

At the upper end of the performance spectrum is now an 2,0 liter biturbo diesel with 156 kW / 213 PS and 500 Nm torque. As with all other four-cylinder diesel engines of the pick-up, it has an SCR catalytic converter to reduce NOx emissions. The previous top engine, an 3,2-liter five-cylinder diesel with 147 kW / 200 PS, is only available until September. Then comes the new emission standard Euro 6d-Temp-EVAP into force, which the engine would not easily reach. All Ranger variants now also have all-wheel technology, the cheap entry-level version (almost 30.000 Euro) with rear-wheel drive omitted. In addition to the obligatory manual transmission, a ten-speed automatic transmission is now available for power transmission, replacing the previous six-speed box and reducing fuel consumption by up to nine percent.
