VLN 2016: diversity in the starting field

You should be careful with terms like “unique”. Great, wonderful, the best. You quickly drown out the actual content with overly colorful phrases and excessive metaphors and in the end you only get a mild smile. However, at the VLN at the Nürburgring one can speak of a “unique starting field”. Last Saturday (April 2nd) the VLN started the new season and was able to announce not only a record field of registered drivers, but also a starting field of special quality and - much more importantly - of a "unique" diversity!

The mein-auto-blog overview of the “colorful starting field” 2016. And it’s not just the paintwork that’s colorful!

The first starting group for the first race in 2016. First of all the GT3 vehicles. And everything of rank and name is included: the new Audi R8, the Bentley, the fresh AMG GTs, the BMW M6 GT3 and the Porsche 991. In between: a Ford GT from the VLN class SP-X.

Konrad Motorsport has brought a Lamborghini Huracan to GT3 regulations. At the end on P20 in the finish! More than just a respectable success!

With a P16 as a result of running 1, already well on the way: The Lexus RC-F GT3 rules. Used by the team Farnbacher. At the wheel the two brothers Farnbacher Dominik and Mario. Best time in this race, an 8: 14.982

The Phoenix team relies on the new Audi R8 GT3, fitted with DUNLOP tires. This makes the Phoenix team one of the top teams in the SP9, which is on the road with the tire gold from Hanau. On this first weekend, the overall victory was immediately possible!

Porsche also offers a GT3 racer. The Porsche 911 GT3 R #911 is used by Manthey-Racing. At the wheel of Frenchman Patrick Pilet and New Zealander Earl Bamber.
