In Germany, station wagons are a must in the business class. The Hyundai noble brand Genesis is therefore also bringing its mid-range G70 in a variant with a large trunk.
Genesis, the luxury brand from Hyundai, is adding a shooting brake version to the G70 mid-size sedan, which made its debut at the end of the year. Like the sedan, it stretches to a length of 4,69 meters and competes against the BMW 3 Series Touring, among other things. Compared to the sedan, the trunk volume of the G70 Shooting Brake should be 40 percent higher and, thanks to a 40:20:40 foldable rear seat back, it should be variable. The Korean manufacturer does not provide any more specific information.
There are also no statements about the motorization of the station wagon, which is tailored to European customer tastes. But he should share the engines with the sedan. This is offered in their home country with a two-liter turbo with 185 kW / 252 hp or a 272 kW / 370 hp 3,3 liter turbo. A 2,2-liter diesel with 149 kW / 202 hp is also available.
After the G70 and its SUV offshoot (market launch in summer) and the G80 sedan and SUV, the G70 Shooting Brake is said to be the Korean manufacturer's fifth model on the German market. Genesis does not name prices. The G70 launched on the Korean market in 2016 and received an extensive facelift at the end of 2020.
