But Toyota has a different level of expertise and even in the Yaris small car, many Toyota customers choose hybrids.

The third petrol engine in the league is a 1.5 liter four-cylinder with variable valve timing and the Atkinson cycle to the partner of the 19.3 kW strong electric motor. The petrol engine brings 100 horsepower and 111 Nm of power. Together with the 169 Nm of the electric motor, the Yaris Hybrid becomes a whispering city car. Silently through the city? However, you can be confused by the sound of the hybrid. For people who have never driven with a continuously variable transmission, this technology brings a few new tones. Although the old disadvantages are more and more eliminated with each new generation, that the gasoline engine revs up and then maintains its speed while the car gets faster - remains unfamiliar to the ears of the Central European. Not bad. But unfamiliar. For the hybrid versions, Toyota does not use a simple CVT transmission as known from other models, but a planetary gear set called HSD. The effect is similar - a stepless translation, the technology behind it completely different.
