Peephole is not enough

Drivers should always carefully remove ice and snow from their vehicles. Otherwise trouble threatens.

Iced car windows and vehicles covered in snow repeatedly pose challenges for drivers in winter. Simply driving off without properly clearing the car of ice and snow can have unpleasant consequences. The HUK-Coburg-Versicherung points out that motorists face joint liability in the event of an accident if it turns out that poor visibility was responsible for the accident.
Just scratching a peephole in the windshield or clearing the vehicle of snow is not enough. The road traffic regulations (StVO Paragraph 23 Paragraph 1 stipulates: "Anyone who drives a vehicle is responsible for ensuring that their vision and hearing (...) are not impaired by the condition of the vehicle."
The experts advise removing snow and ice from the windshield and rear window as well as the side windows and sweeping the hood, roof and - if available - the trunk.
