Jaguar XF Sportbrake - Jaguar's new sleek British luxury truck

British car manufacturer Jaguar is presenting its new Jaguar XF Sportbrake at the Geneva Motor Show. The elegant luxury truck takes on the usual British-tinged values of Jaguar. A modern appearance with powerful elegance and dynamism, enhanced by practicality and versatility.

The exterior changes compared to the Jaguar XF sedan start at the B-pillar. The choreography between flowing window graphics, rising belt line and slightly higher roof leads to a dynamic, muscular appearance and 48 millimeters more headroom in the rear.

Jaguar XF Sportbrake - stretched like a bowstring

The side window graphics typical of a Jaguar are presented in their most elegant and stretched form on the XF Sportbrake. It is stretched back like a bowstring and is further accented by a highly polished chrome bar. The combination of the downward-sloping window line and the rising shoulder line not only emphasizes the strong hips of the Jaguar XF Sportbrake. The rear roof section falls elegantly towards the rear.

The impression of smooth transitions is reinforced by D-pillars painted in glossy black. Together with the dark-tinted rear window, they create the illusion of an all-round, uninterrupted glass section. With this clever trick, the Jaguar designers were inspired by the structures of luxury yachts.

The housings of the horizontal rear lights accommodate LED inserts for the brake, rear and turn signal lights. The shape with which they frame the horizontal chrome trim strip underlines the solid stand of the Jaguar XF Sportbrake on the rear axle. Jaguar will offer the new XF Sportbrake with two optional add-on packages.

Sport brake with aerodynamic package

The aerodynamic package consists of a lower front bumper with a black radiator grille surround, elegant side skirts, a modified rear apron and a rear roof spoiler that is larger than the standard model. With the Black Pack, all parts of the body that are otherwise kept in chrome, such as the window frames or the radiator grille surround, are replaced with a black finish - including the alloy wheels.

Despite the design-driven approach to exterior styling, Jaguar never lost sight of the goal of maximum practicality. Therefore, a completely new rear seat is used for the Jaguar XF Sportbrake. It offers enough space for up to three people and has a 60:40 split.

The rear halves of the seat can be folded down in no time at all using a pull lever – this creates a completely flat, 1.970 mm long loading zone with a volume of 1.675 litres. The width of 1.064 millimeters also shows how practical the loading area of the Jaguar XF Sportbrake can be used - it allows, for example, golf bags to be conveniently stowed away. The tailgate has an automatic closing mechanism; an electric opening and closing function is available on request. Load compartment rails allow optional nets or flexible rails that can be moved lengthways to be fitted quickly.

Jaguar sharpens its brand profile with a fresh new advertising campaign “How alive are you?”

Meanwhile, the cockpit of the Jaguar XF Sportbrake presents itself in a mixture of modern elegance and high functionality. The control buttons have a new matt black finish with a "soft-touch" look and are continuously illuminated in a soft phosphor blue. The metallic Aurora finish for the majority of trim is complemented by panels in aluminum and wood or carbon. Even more sculpted front seats hint at the performance potential of the Jaguar XF Sportbrake.

Three turbo diesel engines ensure the befitting motorization of the British Jaguar truck. The four-cylinder engine in the 2.2 D model is coupled with the Intelligent Stop/Start system, which makes a key contribution to the extremely low fuel consumption of this most fuel-efficient model in Jaguar history.

With the 3,0 liter V6 diesel engine, customers can choose between two output levels. In addition to the variant with 177 kW (240 hp), the top model 3.0 L diesel "S" shines with a rated output of 202 kW (275 hp) and a maximum torque of 600 Nm. If desired, shift paddles on the steering wheel allow you to change gears manually. In all cases, the power from the engines is transmitted to the rear axle via an eight-speed ZF automatic torque converter.

If the Jaguar XF Sportbrake is equipped with a trailer hitch, trailer lane stabilization comes into action if necessary. It uses the ESP sensors to detect snaking movements of the trailer and stops it by applying the brakes to the towing vehicle.

Jaguar factory-fits all XF Sportbrakes with self-levelling air suspension on the rear axle. The system ensures that the sports station wagon has the same dynamic qualities as the sedan and – thanks to automatic level control – that the body is always in a horizontal position, even when fully loaded.

In addition, the Jaguar XF Sportbrake models are available with Jaguar's adaptive suspension. It works with finely responsive "active" dampers that adapt to the road condition and driving style up to 500 times a second based on data on body movement, steering and roll behavior, resulting in an optimal balance between comfort at low speeds and precise handling at high speeds allows.
