The Kia Soul is something like the cult car in the portfolio of the Korean brand. The crossover does not want to fit into any drawer and is very noticeable with its angular design - especially as the special White & Red Edition. The limited five-seater wants to impress with its two-tone paintwork, exclusive design elements and a high level of comfort.
Peter Schreyer, chief designer and one of the Kias company presidents, can be very proud: his work is crowned by design icons, such as the VW Golf IV, and numerous prizes. The Kia Soul, for example, received the coveted Red Dot Design Award - not uncommon for Kia. In the past, the Korean brand mainly shone with its low prices, but now the vehicles stand out with their appearance and quality. It is not for nothing that the vehicles leave the factory with a 7-year guarantee.
But back to the Soul White & Red Edition: The crossover catches the eye with its white body and red accents. The bright red roof and the exterior mirrors in the same color set special accents. The 18-inch alloy wheels also have inserts in this color and are already familiar from the last special model, the luxurious Kia Soul Iconic. The White & Red Edition could easily pass as a fan mobile for the Rot-Weiß Essen soccer club.
The red color theme continues inside. The compartment in the center console shows a border that is just as red as the panels on the tweeters. These elements are supplemented by red footwell lighting using LED technology. In terms of equipment, the special model is also equipped with almost everything that is dear and expensive - especially since the UEFA EURO 2016 model serves as the basis. It offers automatic climate control, a reversing camera, a Bluetooth hands-free system, rear parking sensors, cruise control, heated seats in the front and even a heated steering wheel. The variable power steering "Flex Steer" provides the necessary comfort, while the styling kit "SUV Urban" emphasizes the lines of the Kia Soul again.
The White & Red Edition also offers a Smart Key, an 8-inch navigation system with seven years of map updates and an Infinity Premium Sound System. This should also meet high demands, as it is fully equipped with its external power amplifier, a subwoofer and a central speaker. In addition to the usual connections, you can receive all kinds of digital radio stations.
A petrol engine and a diesel are available for the engine-transmission combinations. The 1.6 direct petrol injector delivers 132 hp, is only available as a manual switch and costs 22.690 euros. The compression-ignition engine also offers 1.6 liters of displacement, but generates 136 hp from it and leaves the choice between a manual transmission or a direct-shift transmission with seven stages. It is available from 24.890. Both have in common the extensive 7-year guarantee package, from which some other manufacturers could cut off a window.
