Charge time programming on the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV

One of the questions that came up again and again in the last few weeks was the question of the meaning of “loading time programming”? This can be set in the PHEV's on-board menu and the Outlander PHEV then only recharges at the specified time.

One of the questions postponed was: Does it harm the Mitsubishi Outlander when he's plugged in the entire night?

No. Charging time programming is only interesting for people who also heat with electricity and still have an electricity tariff that differentiates between load times. “Night electricity” and the corresponding tariffs were introduced when the aim was to market the “off-peak phases” of electricity consumption at night more attractively. However, these forms of electricity tariffing are hardly attractive today. An electricity comparison portal shows the corresponding tariffs in comparison. Anyone who wants to “stash” cheaper electricity at night is often asked to pay a higher basic tariff.

Anyone who has a so-called “Night storage heater” will have a suitable electricity tariff for this.

We do not draw any separate night electricity, we have placed emphasis on a CO2-neutral power supply and the prices for the recharged kWh are always the same throughout the day. Which also seems reasonable with the current use of the test vehicle. As a family SUV, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is connected to the electricity at different times and is charged whenever it is needed. Of course, this affects the night as well as the afternoon.

The loading time programming remains with us accordingly unused. And a problem does not arise here either. The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV charges its battery and then turns off. That was it.
