Sicherheitstechnik explains: Active safety systems exemplified by Mercedes-Benz

There are said to be automobile manufacturers that are better than others. Or they believe it. All manufacturers cook with water. And with the same water. At the end, the water is colored, given a flavor and a label and sold as a car. So if Tesla activates an “autopilot”, then you are not the pioneer in terms of safety, but only the bravest. Or the most irresponsible. Because - everyone cooks with water - the systems that TESLA relies on to let a car “drive itself” are also available from other manufacturers.
In the case of TESLA and the autopilot in principle it is exactly the package of components with which Mercedes-Benz makes an S-Class safer. The difference? At Mercedes-Benz, the electronic systems and their sensors are only used to make driving safer.

Active safety explained using the example of Mercedes-Benz
In the sixth part of his video series speaks Jens from rad-ab.com (on behalf of R + V 24 insurance) with a security expert from Mercedes-Benz on the meaning and function of active safety systems.

The entertaining video is 5:55 minutes long and highlights the various aspects and the interaction of the individual security components. After watching the video you probably understand why I personally view TESLA's approach rather critically. Because even if the current systems can relieve the driver. In other words, we are not yet at the point where we can speak of “autonomous driving” by providing direct and active support when driving.

What exactly can you imagine? Check out the video 😉

In the five parts on safety in automotive engineering so far, we have so far over Crash test dummies talked about Difference between active and passive safety, we discussed which tasks driving simulators fulfill the role of light and I'm sure Jens has a few more videos ready for us! Keep going!
