Majority for speed limit

A majority of Germans could imagine a speed limit on the autobahn. However, other climate protection strategies are even more popular.

Almost two thirds of Germans are in favor of a speed limit of 130 km / h on motorways. In a survey by the Federal Environment Ministry and the Federal Environment Agency, 42 percent of those questioned answered the relevant question with “yes”, and a further 22 percent with “somewhat yes”. 15 percent said “rather no”, 21 percent are definitely not in favor of a speed limit.

Topics such as a price reduction in local transport (93 percent “yes” and “more or less yes”), the construction of more and better bike paths (84 percent) and the expansion of the public transport network (89 percent) met with more approval than the speed limit. A mileage-based car toll would be less popular. It would only be approved by 50 percent of the respondents.
