The new McLaren 720S GT3X track-only race car from McLaren Customer Racing
The new McLaren 720S GT3X Customer Racing can now be ordered as a racing car through the official McLaren dealer network. It was developed purely for use on a race track and has an output of 750 hp.
A "Just 4 fun" racing car
With no need to comply with competition rules and motorsport regulations, McLaren Customer Racing built a "Just 4 fun" racing car. At the heart of the McLaren 720S GT3X is a MonoCage II chassis that provides a strong, lightweight and safe environment for its occupants.
30 hp more power at the push of a button
Power comes from a hand-built 4,0-litre twin-turbo engine. The technicians have optimized this in such a way that it has the properties of the McLaren 720S road cars and the 720S GT3 racing car combined. Coupled to a sequential six-speed motorsport transmission, the engine has a Blueprint cylinder head. There are also reinforced pistons, a “Diamond Like Carbon” coating (DLC) and a lightweight high-performance exhaust system.
[dropcap size=big]750[/dropcap]Track-focused components and systems deliver the same 720 horsepower as the street car. In addition, the driver can call up a further power increase of 30 hp via a push-to-pass button mounted on the steering wheel.Lightweight at just 1.120 kilograms
The lightweight 720S GT3X tips the scales at just 1.210 kg. This was achieved through extreme weight savings. Little luxury, but a lot of security. These measures together result in a power-to-weight ratio of 720 hp per ton for the 3S GT620X, with the push-to-pass system activated.
[dropcap size=big]GT3[/dropcap]Freed from the sporting regulations, the 720S GT3X is a performance-optimized version of the already tailor-made GT3 racing car. The flowing lines of the body were developed using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and Formula 1 wind tunnel technology.720S GT3X track-only model with lots of carbon
The aerodynamically shaped body is hand painted in MSO Carbon Black Metallic. A pinstripe of traditional McLaren Orange accentuates the lower edges of the ground-hugging body shape and the outer edge of the gloss black center lock wheels. An “X” graphic extends across the entire roof of the race car.
The bare cabin is made of lightweight carbon fiber and was designed with track performance and functionality in mind. An FIA-approved carbon fiber and Kevlar racing seat hugs the driver.
The pedal box and steering wheel are adjustable to ensure the perfect driving position. The ergonomically designed racing wheel is equipped with all important functions via intuitive rotary switches and buttons. So the pilot has everything within easy reach.
The passenger of the 720S GT3X also has fun
The interior of the 720S GT3X has been designed in such a way that a full racing seat with a six-point harness can be fitted on the passenger side. Modifications compared to the race car include a revised design of the roll cage and improved crash structures around the occupant safety cell.
Track support is included
The 720S GT3X offers not only a new kind of performance on the track, but also a new kind of ownership experience. As part of the purchase and ownership package, McLaren Automotive can offer dedicated technical track support for each owner.
This program will be run by customer support engineers from McLaren's in-house Customer Racing department – the team that designed and developed the model in conjunction with the 720S GT3's global customer racing programme.
