McLaren 720S Spider - Light and airy

Lightweight construction and speed are two core values of the McLaren sports car manufacturer. The roof system of the new 720S Spider can now impress with these skills.

In spring 2019 McLaren launches the 720S Spider

The portfolio of the sports car manufacturer McLaren is enriched by another variant. The latest addition is the 720S Spider - a folding roof version of the well-known 720S Coupé. Like the closed 720 S, the open-air counterpart is powered by a 4,0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 530 kW / 720 hp and 770 Nm of torque. Given the dry weight of just under 1,3 tons, the eight-cylinder engine is easy to play: the sprint time from a standing start takes 2,9 seconds, after a further five seconds the 200 mark falls, and a maximum of 341 km / h is possible. However, this speed is only achieved when the roof is open, "only" 325 km / h are left.

When closed, the 720S Spider can drive up to 341 km / h

The electric hood mechanism is also fast. Opening or closing the folding roof construction, which is made of carbon fiber and weighs 49 kilograms, only takes eleven seconds. The roof mechanism also works while driving up to a speed of 50 km / h. As an option, the variable vehicle hood can be ordered with a glass pane, where you can choose between a clear view and two different tints at the push of a button. You can now order the 273.000S Spider for the price of 720 Euro. The first vehicles will be handed over to customers in March.
