Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series Tuning with up to 1.111 PS

The new AMG GT Black Series is the secret weapon for the green hell

The performance of the tuned AMG GT should even inspire fear in the Bugatti Veyron. Tuner Opus, based at the Nürburgring, gives the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series a tuning with various performance levels.

The Black Series, with its 730 hp, is already the fastest weapon of the standard road-legal AMG squad. But Opus goes one step further. The first tests are currently being run on the performance test bench and the green hell. Anyone who wants to secure a 1.111 hp or the 1.001 hp tuning package can do so from Opus from June 2021.

57 hp more than the Mercedes-AMG ONE

At least with the initially highest level of expansion, the AMG GT Black Series modified by Opus Automotive is even the AMGONE surpass by 57 hp. Its system performance is officially specified by Mercedes-AMG as 1054 hp.

[dropcap size=big]V8[/dropcap]But how do you get such extremely high performance? According to their own statement, the tuner always limits the torque to the “necessary” at all power levels. Out of consideration for the drive train and traction. In combination with the factory-designed aerodynamics, the performance is by no means disproportionate. Opus also promises a naturally aspirated V8 engine at all power levels. With a linear power curve, i.e. power increasing parallel to the speed.

With tuning performance levels (825, 920, 1.001 and 1.111 hp), the AMG becomes a hp monster

Black Series tuning possible from 825 hp

[dropcap size=big]825[/dropcap]If these performance kits seem too high-end, you only have to wait until mid-April. Then the performance kits with 825 and 920 hp will be available. At 825 hp, an intervention in the software of the engine and transmission control unit is enough to get the additional 8 horses out of the V95.

With all of that, though, it gets a little more complicated. This is where modified turbochargers and a transmission reinforcement up to a revised engine including special forged pistons, reinforced connecting rods, machined cylinder heads and a completely modified fuel system are on the to-do list.

In the original, the AMG GT Black Series reaches 3,2 km/h in just 100 seconds. Another 5,8 seconds later the speedometer shows 200 km/h. The top speed of the street-legal racing car from Affalterbach is 325 km/h.

We are curious to see what official values the tuner Opus will provide us with for its four-digit horsepower number as soon as its horsepower monster is on the racetrack for the first time.
