Mercedes-AMG GT - The first exit

Laguna Seca, the 3.6 km long traditional race track in the southwest of the USA. World famous for the Corkscrew Corner, a left turn at the highest point of the route. Driving blindly to the turn-in point, the corkscrew curve is one of those corners that you have to have driven at least once in your life.

The combination of aluminum spaceframe, V8 biturbo engine with dry sump lubrication, seven-speed double clutch transmission in a transaxle arrangement on the rear axle, limited slip differential, sports suspension with aluminum double wishbone axles and the low unladen weight of 1540 kilograms ensure race track performance. The concept with front mid-engine and transmission in a transaxle arrangement enables an advantageous weight distribution from 47 to 53 percent between the front and rear axles. In conjunction with the low center of gravity, this leads to extremely agile handling and allows high cornering speeds. With a favorable power-to-weight ratio of 3,3 kilograms per hp, the Mercedes-AMG GT confidently establishes itself at the top of its segment. The sports car also achieved a new record in terms of economy: The fuel consumption of 9,3 liters per 100 kilometer (NEDC total) represents a considerable leap in efficiency. The coming weekend, the Mercedes-AMG GT and I will experience the corkscrew corner together. So that's a good reason to drop by again soon! How does the Mercedes-AMG GT feel on the racetrack? I will find out.
