The "John Cooper Works" model crowns the Mini his convertible series. The small car is powered by a 2,0-liter four-cylinder with 170 kW / 231 PS. The performance is on the level of significantly larger sports cars: The spurt on Tempo 100 takes 6,6 seconds, a maximum of 242 km / h are possible. For the open frenzy you pay at least 33.500 Euro, which means a surcharge of 3.600 Euro to the standard JWC mini.
The turbo gasoline engine, already familiar from the John Cooper-Works closed model, delivers maximum torque from 320 Nm, which is routed to the front wheels via a manual six-speed gearbox. Alternatively, a six-speed automatic is available. The consumption is the manufacturer with 6,5 liters, the automatic version is to get along with 5,9 liters.
Like the standard convertible announced for March, the sport model also retains the classic retro design style of the brand. The all-electric textile soft top opens and closes within 18 seconds, even while driving up to Tempo 30. Recently, the soft top has a sunroof function: this allows the front section of the soft top to be infinitely reduced by up to 40 centimeters at any speed. The new generation also brings some playful visual subtleties: The soft top is now available with woven Union Jack - the British flag.
Compared to its predecessor, the new convertible with 3,82 meters has grown by almost ten centimeters in length, which also creates more space for four passengers and luggage. From the latter, the Mini packs a quarter more, so now 215 liter (160 liters with the top down) behind the seats.
