The Mitsubishi Outlander has been awarded the highest safety award by the prestigious "Insurance Institute for Highway Safety" (IIHS) in the US, the "Top Safety Pick Plus". This makes the Outlander already the second Mitsubishi to receive this award: In May 2013 received the Mitsubishi ASX (in America under the name Outlander Sport in trade) also this highest award.
With the "Top Safety Plus" award, the independent IIHS Institute honors vehicles with outstanding safety standards. In particular, the increased requirements in the standardized crash tests are taken into account. The patented "Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution" (RISE) system from Mitsubishi Motors plays an important role here. Forces are kept away from the vehicle cabin via clearly defined deformation zones. Only three automobiles tested by 15 received the coveted "Top Safety Plus" award.
The Mitsubishi Outlander has already been awarded many prizes for outstanding safety. For example, the Australian traffic safety authority ANCAP, the Japanese organization JNCAP and the Euro NCAP.
