Chip developer Nvidia has presented a new processor for computers in future autonomous cars. From 2025, the central control chip called “Atlan” is to control the robot car functions in production cars and take over the operation of the on-board computer and infotainment system. According to the developers, one of the special features is the high computing power of 1.000 trillion arithmetic operations per second (TOPS) - four times the value of current chips.
The Californian company Nvidia is best known as a manufacturer of high-speed graphics cards for computer games.
