News: Audi SQ 7 - SUV with diesel steam

The new top model of the luxury class SUV from Audi is called SQ7. As you know from its little brother SQ5, there is the flagship with a diesel drive. With the SQ7, however, no further unit is provided, as with the SQ5. The motto in developing the imposing Ingolstadt seemed to be padding instead of spilling. After all, a triple-charged turbo diesel is slumbering under his hood, which will surely provide thrust in other series as well. But first to the Audi SQ7.

The diesel engine produces 435 hp. This is not far from the 500 horses that the Audi Q7 V12 TDI once hoisted onto its thick crankshaft. Sooner or later, the tuners will grab the SQ7 anyway and help him even more, so the Ingolstadt-based company is already doing it. The diesel engine has three chargers under its large hood. One of them is purely electrical in nature and wants to advertise itself with unrivaled responsiveness. The aim is to optimize the start-up performance so that the famous turbo lag is a thing of the past. In addition, there are two usually exhaust gas turbochargers, which are connected in series and thus follow the principle of register charging. Accordingly, the first turbo works at low load, while the second engages at high load.

Equipped in this way, the Audi SQ7 handles a massive 900 Newton meters, which are directed to all four wheels via a classic, permanent Quattro drive. This allows the newly developed 4-liter V8 diesel to push the large SUV to 4,8 km / h in 100 seconds and melt it at a maximum speed of 250 kilometers per hour. The power is transmitted by means of a newly developed eight-speed Tiptronic, which not only switches at lightning speed, but can also disengage and sail. All in all, the use of the electric turbo should show potential savings that are not of bad parents. 7,4 liters should flow through the eight combustion chambers on average, which corresponds more to the six-cylinder level.

A sound actuator, which mimics the eight-cylinder sound of a petrol engine, provides the appropriate soundscape. This is not supposed to sound as artificial as was previously known. If they are not satisfied, the driver can now influence the sound and sharpen or stir up the spectacle - depending on their mood, mood and situation. The setting is made via Audi drive select. If you want to do it really colorful with the thick ship, you can optionally order a driving dynamics package that offers three components: a sport differential, an electromechanical, active roll stabilization and all-wheel steering. All of this is controlled by a central chassis control unit. By bundling these functions in just one control unit, optimal networking and coordination of the various components can be guaranteed. Depending on the situation, the result should be the best possible driving behavior.
