News: BMW 330e - The three with two hearts

As of March BMW with the 330e, another plug-in hybrid in the portfolio. However, at least 43.500 euros must be invested in the Bayer.

In the 330e, the plug-in hybrid drive combines an electric machine with 65 kW / 88 hp and a maximum torque of 250 Nm with the four-cylinder known from the 320i, 135 kW / 184 hp. The system output is 185 kW / 252 hp and enables a maximum torque of 420 Nm. The lithium-ion battery with 7,6 kWh is located under the trunk floor. Its volume is now only 480 liters instead of 370.

The standard sprint is achieved in 6,1 seconds, the top speed is reached at speed 225. The transmission of power via the standard eight-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels is still classic BMW. Since the electric motor was placed in front of the gearbox, the gear ratios can also be used with a purely electric drive. This saves the torque converter and thus additional weight. After all, the 330e weighs 165 kilograms more than the 252i, which also has 330 hp.

By default, you start in the Auto eDrive setting. It enables an optimal interplay of the combustion engine and the electric motor and a purely electrical top speed of 80 km / h. If you only have to cover a short distance, you can activate the Max eDrive mode right away. The 330e then drives purely electrically and at speeds of up to 120 km / h. If you use this setting often, i.e. do not switch on the burner as often as possible, the average consumption of 2,1 liters is not entirely inaccessible. So if you have a socket in your garage or at work, you can take advantage of the technology.
