News: Brabus C63 S - The Business Express

The performance data reads like that of a flat super sports car: 650 PS, 820 Nm and 320 km / h top speed - that sounds suspiciously like Ferrari, Lamborghini and Co. Far from it, we are talking about a four-door mid-range sedan. But we're not talking about any sedan, but the Brabus C63 S. Anyone who knows the Bottrop noble forge knows that the Mercedes that leave Bodo Buschmann's hallowed halls are anything but slow mass-produced goods. We take a closer look at the bolide.

The increase in performance really has it all: The Bottrop 510 put on the standard 63 PS of the AMG C140 S and increase the torque from 700 to 820 Nm, which is available between 1.750 and 4.500 tours. So the sedan should be a maximum of 320 km / h. The Über-Benz would be like a wolf in sheep's clothing. Although you can see his potency by looking at him, you have no idea that he can complete the standard sprint in just 3,8 seconds. Of course, the doping is also available for the station wagon - the T-model - but this needs a tenth more to 100 km / h. Incidentally, the performance cure is called “BRABUS PowerXtra B40S” and offers a tuning guarantee for three years or 100.000 km. So performance without regrets.

To generate that much power, of course, it takes a little more than just a few bits and bytes. The 4.0 liter eight-cylinder gets an increase in boost pressure, i.e. classic chip tuning, but there are also two special turbochargers with a larger compressor unit and a special fuselage group with reinforced axial bearings. In addition, the injection and ignition have been adjusted so that everything is optimally coordinated. The seven-speed sports transmission of the C 63 S, which is also equipped with Brabus Race aluminum shift paddles, provides the necessary traction. So you can lend a hand on the way to top speed without having to take it off the valance. Incidentally, the one can be selected: the Brabus V / max-Unit lets you choose between 300 and 320 km / h. The whole spectacle can then be admired on the special speedometer, which reaches up to 340 km / h.

Of course, a V8 also has a corresponding sound. Brabus has of course thought of this and has given the C-Class a sports exhaust system made entirely of stainless steel with an exhaust flap control. It is also available without the performance kit and gives the pilot the choice of waking up his neighbors with hard eight-cylinder heavy metal or, in “coming home” mode, playing the soft-bassy Barry White.

Visually, the Bottrop also has a lot to offer: The entire C-Class features exposed carbon body elements that can be selected in a matt or high-gloss finish. The front spoiler, which is made of the same material, was developed in such a way that it minimizes lift on the front axle at high speeds, which is intended to optimize driving stability. The tuner also gave the rear end an aerodynamic fine-tuning and installed a carbon rear spoiler and a diffuser made of the same material, which together are intended to reduce lift on the rear axle. With the gear train, you have the choice between two wheel designs in the dimensions 8.5 x 20 at the front and 9.5 x 20 at the rear. You can either opt for the new Monoblock T styling with five spokes and carbon-look elements or the classic Monoblock F type cross-spoke design. So that the Brabus C63 S is not only fast on the straights, a specially designed, height-adjustable coilover kit was developed together with Bilstein. The front and rear shock absorbers can be adjusted tenfold in rebound and compression.

Of course, there can't be a Brabus that hasn't visited the in-house saddlery. The “fine leather interior” sets exclusive, sporty accents. The finishers cover the contact surfaces of the sports seats, parts of the steering wheel rim, the dashboard and parts of the door panels with black, particularly non-slip Alcantara. Added to this - how could it be otherwise - black leather. It is upgraded again with decorative elements in bright yellow leather. In addition, the high-class forge from the Ruhrpott uses carbon elements with a high-gloss clear coat. But do you have a look when the gas pedal hits the “floor pan” hard?
