It celebrated its world premiere at the Geneva Salon, and the Abarth 124 Spider will be available from dealers from September. However, at least 40.000 euros must be invested.
Visually, the 1.060 kilogram Abarth differs from the civil Spider with a matt black painted bonnet and boot lid. The downside of the stronger two-seater carries a spoiler. The 17-inch alloy wheels, the windshield frame and the roll bars are strikingly painted in gray. The interior receives a lot of Alcantara and a badge with the individual serial number.
Will the Fiat Spider powered by a 103 kW / 140 PS turbo engine, work in the Abarth version 125 kW / 170 PS. The sprint to 100 km / h should be completed in 6,8 seconds, the top speed is reached at 232 km / h. The Abarth 124 Spider is available with a six-speed manual gearbox or the six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters on the steering wheel.
Always there are specially tuned Bilstein dampers and a sports exhaust system with flap control. In addition to manual air conditioning, standard equipment also includes cruise control.
With the basic price of 40.000 euros, the version with the scorpion in the logo is significantly more expensive than the Fiat Spider. The basic version costs 23.990 euros. The Italian was jointly developed with the Mazda MX-5, which is around 1.000 euros cheaper but also a little less powerful.
