News: Ford Focus RS - The 350-horse team

The new Ford With 257 kW / 350 PS, Focus RS is significantly stronger than its predecessor. The turbo all-wheel drive celebrates its premiere at the Goodwood Festival of Speed (until 28. June). The sporty compact is the first RS model to have different driving modes, including a drift program.

The 2,3-liter turbo petrol engine in the new Focus RS comes from the Mustang, but the all-aluminum four-cylinder engine has around ten percent more power in its compact, compact version. In the speed range from 2.000 to 4.500 U / min, the unit develops a torque of 440 Newton meters, under full acceleration an overboost control increases the maximum torque for 15 seconds to 470 Nm.

Another new feature is the all-wheel drive developed by Ford, which, with its dynamic torque distribution (Dynamic Torque Vectoring), is intended to enable particularly good handling properties. As the first RS model, the Focus also has a launch control, i.e. an automatic start, as well as different driving modes, including a drift program. According to Ford, it allows easily controllable oversteer on closed routes.

The sports model is the third Focus generation with the RS abbreviation. The Focus RS will come to European customers in early 2016. Ford plans to announce the price at a later date. The hit from Cologne will probably settle somewhat below the competition of Audi S3, Mercedes A45 AMG or Golf R, which start at around 40.000 euros.
