Connected to the Tucson as a successor to the ix35 Hyundai high hopes. Slightly larger and correspondingly more spacious, much more comfortable on the inside and much more elegant on the outside, but also a bit more expensive at the end, it should consolidate its position in the most dynamic segment of the market at least starting at 22.400 Euro.

The Koreans are not only relying on a new, now at least newly discovered name, but above all on a completely new platform. Thus, as formerly the ix35 in Czech Nosovice built Tucson 7 centimeters longer, has 3 centimeters more wheelbase and goes 3 centimeters in width. This creates more space inside and the largest luggage compartment in the class with 513 liters.

All the more absurd, however, are the two driving modes, between which you can switch with the press of a button on the center console. Because there are no adaptive dampers, they are anyway only on the steering, the accelerator characteristic and the automatic. And because the spread is much too small and the Tucson is not in the dynamic mode to the curve robber, the Koreans could easily save this effort.

After all, it's not as if the Tucson has no choice. On the contrary: With three diesels from 85 kW / 115 to 136 kW / 185 PS and two petrol with 97 kW / 132 and 129 kW / 175 PS, with front or four-wheel drive and circuit, dual clutch or automatic, the Koreans finally offer a wide range of powertrains ,

The vast majority of components and combinations are already known from ix35, even though Hyundai has once again optimized the engines and reduced consumption a bit. Really new at least in this series is the 1,6-liter turbo, which moves with its 129 kW / 175 horsepower to the forefront of gasoline. The four-cylinder i30 and Veloster is optimized for powerful passage and makes with his 265 Nm in 1,5-Tonner a very neat figure. After all, he accelerates the SUV in 9,5 seconds from 0 to 100 km / h and creates in an emergency 202 km / h.
