The first SUV in the history of the brand Jaguar could soon become the most successful model in Germany. Although the F-Pace will only be on the market in Germany in a few weeks, the forecasts for the 4,73-meter four-wheel drive are extremely positive: “We are already on the way to making the F-Pace the best-selling Jaguar model , We see that in advance sales, ”says Jaguar Germany Managing Director Peter Modelhart.

This means that the model in the booming segment should continue to contribute to the course of success that the brand is currently driving anyway: Among other things, Jaguar achieved a new registration increase of around 18 percent compared to the previous year with the new XE and XF. In the first two months of 2016, the traditional British brand sold 82 percent more in Germany than in January and February 2015. Still at a low level, however, with around 2015 vehicles in 5.000, the market share was just 0,2 percent.

The F-Pace wants to secure its place in the well-filled competitive environment as a mixture of sportiness and everyday benefits. With prices starting at 42.390 euros, the five-seater is extremely competitive. Despite the sporty cut, the inside of the F-Pace is one of the largest models in its class. The wheelbase of 2,87 meters provides plenty of knee room in the rear, the luggage compartment holds 650 liters when fully seated.

Visually, the F-Pace fits into the brand family with the sedans XE, XF, XJ and the sports car F-Type: The front is characterized by the same large radiator grille that is flanked by the typical sharp-cut headlights. In the side view, short overhangs ensure harmonious proportions. “We have the longest wheelbases and the shortest body overhangs, which brings dynamism to our vehicles,” emphasizes Modelhart. "Every jaguar, even if it only stands, must always have the dynamics of the cat, which is on the go and tensing its muscles."

The head of Germany sees the fact that Jaguar is now also represented in the boom segment as a logical consequence of the brand development: "With the F-Pace, we are entering a segment in which we have never been represented because we can do it now" Modelhart. "The Jaguar brand can show a wide spread because the brand essence is clear: performance, technology and British design."

The F-Pace could pave the way for a bigger leap in sales, but the boom in the SUV class should continue for a while. Porsche shows with Cayenne and Macan how well this can do for a manufacturer. Modelhart does not currently want to feed the speculation about an SUV above the F-Pace, but says: “It is good that one can speculate about it. It shows that the brand has more options. "
