News: Jaguar XJ - Update for the upper cat

Around five years after its launch, the Jaguar XJ now its first revision. In addition to a slight visual refresh, there is new technology and revised engines. The market launch takes place in late autumn, prices start at 81.000 Euro.

Externally, the new version of the luxury sedan can be recognized above all by the enlarged grille, which is now flanked by two LED headlights. These are standard and offer cornering and automatic high beam. In the likewise revised interior, the aged infotainment system was replaced by the new technology from the mid-range sedan XE. It is now possible to integrate the smartphone, including the mobile radio remote control of the air conditioning system, and to open a wifi hotspot.

A new version of the V6 diesel is available for the drive. The 3,0 liter engine now has 221 kW / 300 PS (previously 202 kW / 275 PS) and is said to be satisfied with 5,7 liters of fuel (previously 6,1 liters). Furthermore, an 3,0 liter V6 compressor petrol engine with 250 kW / 340 PS and an 5,0 liter V8 compressor petrol engine with 405 kW / 550 PS complete the range. The rear wheels are driven, only the small petrol engine has all-wheel technology on board.

The flagship of the British brand will in future be available in the familiar four plus two new equipment lines. In the "R-Sport" variant, the sedan then moves optically somewhat in the direction of the XJR sports model; in the "Autobiography" variant, the models with long wheelbase come up with particularly elegant features. The prices have risen slightly: With 81.000 Euro, the diesel variant now costs just under 700 Euro more than last.
