News: Mazda RX-Vision - greetings from Paris

As soon as the Mazda RX-Vision concept vehicle appeared on the scene, it was named the “Most Beautiful Concept Car of the Year”. The flounder was first unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show in late October 2015, and at the end of January the Mazda was able to convince a jury of design experts. At the 31st Festival Automobile International in Paris, experts from motorsport, architecture, fashion and design decided and chose the RX-Vision as the most beautiful design study.

In addition to the Japanese, the Bentley Exp10 Speed 6, the Peugeot Fractal and the Porsche Mission E were nominated, alongside the Mazda RX-Vision, at least on the podium. The award shows that the global Mazda design team is doing very well with its direction. Most recently, the team won three awards at the 2015 Automotive Brand Contest, including the prestigious “Team of the Year” award.

But the RX vision stands for itself, which should embody the "Challenger Spirit" from Mazda. This is intended to underline the determination of the Japanese car manufacturer to question common perspectives and ways of thinking, even if this creates technical challenges. The flat nose with the extremely low-running bonnet can only be realized because the Mazda RX-Vision has a next-generation rotary engine. The gently flowing proportions also reinterpret the design language "KODO - Soul of Motion" and pay tribute to the RX tradition.

Unlike the somewhat older Mazda RX-8, the study only offers two seats. The concept with the butterfly doors is also passee. The flat flounder shows typical sports car proportions with a long front and a crisp rear. The muscles are distributed over a length of 4,39 meters and an extremely low construction height of just 1,16 meters. This is why the concept car is sportily wide in the starting blocks: At 1,92 in width, the left lane is a restricted area in narrow construction sites. But the proportions reveal something else: the driven rear axle is also hidden in the short rear - as it should be for a genuine sports car. Now, of course, we are excited to see what will ultimately roll to the dealers on the stocky 20-inch wheels. We already have one request: change the design as little as possible.
