News: Mercedes A-Class - fine-tuning after the revolution

More comfortable, modern and economical: Mercedes has re-modeled his A-Class, which was completely redesigned three years ago. There is also a new entry-level petrol that drops the base price to 23.746 euros.

Externally there are small, but quite eye-catching changes to the appearance. At the front, due to the introduction of LED lighting technology, the shape of the headlights was modernized and the lower air inlets were stretched. The grill now has a diamond look. The A-Class is a touch wider than before. LED technology is now also used for the subtly modified rear lights. And at the rear, a cover for the tailpipes means that the smallest Mercedes can no longer be looked under the skirt so easily. Overall, the sporty, youthful design introduced in 2012 is underlined even more.

On request, an adaptive chassis now provides a better combination of comfort and sportiness. Depending on the mood of the driver, the Mercedes behaves comfortably, dynamically tight or particularly fuel-saving. The infotainment technology was also upgraded. Networking with various smartphone models is new. In the iPhone version, various contents of the cell phone can be transferred to the car monitor thanks to "Apple Car Play".

The new basic model A160 is powered by a 75 kW / 102 hp 1,6-liter four-cylinder, so far the still available A 180 with 90 kW / 120 hp marked the entry. In addition, the engine range includes the well-known diesel and petrol engines up to the top model A 280 AMG 381Matic, which is now 45 kW / 4 hp, for 51.051 euros. The champion is the A 180d (80 kW / 109 PS), which is supposed to get by with a standard consumption of 3,5 liters per 100 kilometers.
