At the middle of the model cycle the Mercedes M-Class not just a new name. The Stuttgart-based company has thoroughly revised their upper-class SUV, now called GLE, for example with plug-in hybrid drive and more safety and comfort features. For the first time, the basic variant has rear-wheel drive, so the GLE 250 d, whose diesel engine continues to produce 150 kW / 204 hp, costs 53.967 euros, around 2.200 euros less, the cheapest variant so far.
The new GLE with plug-in hybrid drive is priced at € 73.899. The GLE 500 e 4matic combines V6 petrol engines (245 kW / 333 hp) and electric motor (85 kW / 116 hp). Together, the units have a system output of 325 kW / 442 hp and a torque of 650 Newton meters. The surcharge for hybrid technology can thus be put at around 14.000 euros: The GLE 400 4matic, in which the V6 petrol engine is used alone, costs 60.928 euros. The top speed is limited to 130 km / h. The Stuttgart-based company specifies 3,3 liters per 100 kilometers with a charged battery.
The prices of the other petrol and diesel engines are a few hundred euros above the previous models. For example, the most powerful diesel 350d 4matic (190 kW / 238 hp) now costs 60.750 euros instead of 60.035 euros, the most powerful petrol 500 4matic (320 kW / 435 hp) is available from 76.874 euros in the price list (previously 76.219 euros). The AMG variant of the GLE costs from 111.384 euros. The already known diesel and petrol engines have been revised and are now said to consume an average of 17 percent less.
New in the standard equipment are, for example, crosswind and extended brake assist, the revised multifunction steering wheel or the infotainment system with a new display and connectivity functions.
