He is blue, strong and economical: Peugeot Sport brings an athlete with the 308 R Hybrid to the Shanghai Auto Show (22 to 29, April), with a plug-in gasoline hybrid drive powered by 500 PS under its plate.
Even at first glance, the concept vehicle differs from its civilian 308 brothers: Wheels set wide outward, large air intakes and a striking front bumper, roof spoiler and rear bumper with two air intakes on the other side. The blue hue is to remind of the French racing cars. At the rear, the blue turns into dull black.
Inside, the continuous center console and the four individual bucket seats stand out. The dashboard is covered with a fabric made by digital weaving. This material should save weight and can also be found in the door paneling.
The peculiarity lies however under the sheet metal: Its powertrain comprises three power sources, which can drive the vehicle independently of each other. The system consists of a 1,6-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with 199 kW / 270 PS, a 85 kW / 115 PS strong electric motor, which is coupled with the six-speed gearbox, and a likewise 115 PS strong electric motor on the rear axle.
With the system performance of 500 PS, the all-wheel drive 308 R Hybrid runs in 4 seconds on Tempo 100. On average, he is expected to emit 70 grams of CO2 per kilometer.
