News: RAV4 Hybrid

The RAV is a permanent seller in the Toyota portfolio. So far, there was no hybrid drive for the former trendsetter of the compact SUV. That is changing now.

The RAV4 Hybrid celebrated its premiere at the New York Auto Show last year, and the SUV will also be coming to Germany in a few weeks. Its powertrain essentially corresponds to that of the Lexus NX 300h. Like this, the Toyota is offered in a four-wheel and a front-wheel drive version. The drive system consists of a 2,5 liter petrol engine, a hybrid unit and an additional electric motor on the rear axle and delivers 145 kW / 197 hp. The consumption is 5,0 or 4,9 liters (front-wheel drive). Accordingly, the CO2 emissions are 115/116 grams per kilometer.

In addition to the hybrid drive, Toyota has given the compact SUV a modified front section with full-LED headlights, a revised rear with a redesigned apron and rear lights with modernized lighting graphics as part of the latest facelift. New assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control and an emergency brake assistant are also available. Higher quality materials are used for the interior.

The conventionally powered models started in December. The range of engines consisting of two diesels and a petrol engine (91 kW / 124 PS to 111 kW / 151 PS) was converted to the Euro 6 standard, but otherwise remained unchanged. With the RAV4, Toyota has now given the fourth series a hybrid drive. In addition to Prius and Auris, the small car Yaris is already electrified.
